Favourite Words : Earmark (it's really not that dirty)
Originally a cut or mark in the ear of sheep and cattle, serving as a sign of ownership; first recorded 1577 in figurative sense; in modernity, the term earmark has come to mean something set aside for a specific purpose, usually money, but it can be time (I will earmark 15 minutes a day to reflect on my daily gratitudes).
With regard to earmarks and financial issues, the concept is to set aside funds for a special purpose. In an education bill for instance, specific funds may be set aside for the stated goal of replacing the roof of a certain school, or in a transportation bill, specific dollars are included to guarantee that railroad crossings in rural areas are upgraded for safety issues.
Like anything else, earmarks can be exploited and abused, but anyone who has seen a new traffic lights installed, upgrades to their emergency response system (911), or new fire trucks purchased for their community with money from the Federal Government has benefitted from earmarks.

Bound Cocktail Napkins
We never know when inspiration will strike – while motoring, in a pub, in church, any place.
Ideas come to us all the time. Some are fantastic, others need polish, still others need a complete overhaul, but they are out there waiting to be discovered.
We can’t go after all of our ideas today. So record them. Not on a cocktail napkin or post-it note. In a journal
Mine is filled with :
Names for spin-off websites
Websites I find interesting
Products I’d like to carry
Copy ideas and phrases
and even Future Elevator Speeches

Charlie And Lola are giggling everyday at Tuesdays And Thursdays
Based on the Lauren Child’s books and made famous by the CeBeebies Television programme Lola and Charlie are just now being discovered in the United States on Playhouse Disney.
Charlie and Lola are 8 inches tall and giggle just like the real Charlie and Lola when you press their tummies! Lauren Childs created the characters after an encounter with two similarly aged children on a train in Denmark. The antics of seven year old Charlie and his sister Lola “who is quite small and very funny” embody the fun and discovery of young children and the bond between a brother and sister.

Bananagrams - Now In Stock At Tuesdays And Thursdays
Place all 144 tiles face down on center of table. These tiles are referred to as the "BUNCH". For games of 2-4 people, each player takes 21 letters from the bunch, keeping them face down. For 5-6 players, 15 letters are taken. For 7-8 (or more) players, 11 letters are taken.
Any one player says "SPLIT" whereupon all players turn their own tiles face up and proceed to form their OWN collection of connecting and intersecting words. The words may be horizontal or vertical, reading left to right or top to bottom. Each player may rearrange his/her own words as often as desired. Players DO NOT take turns, but play independently of each other and at the same time.
After playing at the New York Toy Fair (and missing an appointment with another supplier because we were having so much fun) we just knew that we had to offer Bananagrams for our customers! You'll go bananas for Bananagrams !

REduce REuse REcycle at Tuesdays And Thursdays
We're committed to reducing our environmental footprint every chance we get.
Many of our customers are surprised to discover thatdespite our boasting about our eco-friendly habits, on some occassions an order will contain packing peanuts. Rest assured that we never buy styrofoam peanuts - we reuse the ones that we receive in the office as well as the peanuts our staff collect from orders they receive at home. (That's why you may receive a combination of white, pink, and green peanuts in your order)
We encourage our customers to save the peanuts for future shipping needs, or drop them off at your local UPS store (call ahead first) but most are willing to reuse your styrofoam peanuts.

With its creepy crawly front legs and realistic fur, this tarantula is both fascinating and freaky at the same time. Use your fingers to make its front legs crawl and your imagination to bring it to life!
We love Folkmanis Hand Puppets, did we mention this is a hand puppet, because their creations seem like quality plush animals with a sense of realism, except they have a hidden pocket for hands. The Tarantula is about 9" long

Seeds
There are times in life when we feel as if we are just drifting over empty fields without a purpose, without direction. Our instinct tells us we should be doing more but without sore muscles or calluses we have no way to really know how many seeds we have already planted. Then, one day, green shoots appear, burst through the mud, reminding us of all of the work that we have done, and how much we will reap.
Coming Soon To Tuesdays And Thursdays : Envirosax
We discovered Envirosax a the New York International Gift Fair in 2007 and, aside from falling in love with the Australian accents of the staff, we fell in love with the brilliant concept of Envirosax!
Unlike the bulky grocery sacks that are sold through some of the grocery stores, Envirosax roll up into small rolls - about the size of a large prescription bottle - making them easy to stash in the glove box, messenger bag, even a purse! And the little snappy thing on each bag secures them once rolled.
The grocery carrying angle is great, but we found that these compact bags are perfect to stash with us when we go to the Farmer's Market, local street fairs where we are sure to buy too much!, craft fairs, even garage sales! And since they are waterproof, they are come in super handy for wet swimsuits and towels after a day of fun.
Rolled up the bag measures 4” x 1.5” Unrolled it's dimensions are 19.5” x 16.5” The bag itself weighs only 1.4 ounces but can carry a whopping 44 pounds!
Envirosax are a new addition to Tuesdays And Thursdays - watch for more brilliant styles to arrive soon!

Carrot mythology
Carrots are a great source of Vitamin A. Vitamin A deficencies can result in poor eyesight and other occular conditions. However eating more carrots and taking Vitamin A supplements does not improve vision.
The rumor about carrots improving eyesight was started as a part of disinformation campaign during World War II. The Royal Air Force was using an early form of radar and did not want the Nazis to know anything about this new technology. So to explain why British pilots had such an impressive records of hitting their targets, the Home Office explained that the pilots were eating large amounts of carrots.
We find seemingly ordinary stories like this to be extraordinary - from time to time we'll share more stories on the Tuesdays And Thursdays blog roll.

Magnetic Poetry - It All Started With A Sneeze
It all started with a song and a sneeze. Dave Kapell, founder of Magnetic Poetry, was suffering from writer's block while trying to compose song lyrics. To overcome this problem, he wrote down interesting words on pieces of paper and rearranged them, looking for inspiration. What he hadn't figured into this experiment was his allergies. One good sneeze and any progress was sent flying across the room. Dave decided to glue the words to pieces of magnets and stick them to a pizza tin. Then he got hungry and the now magnetized words made their way to the refrigerator door. Before too long, Dave wasn't the only one rearranging his would-be song lyrics. When friends came over, Dave noticed they started to move the magnets around, amusing themselves by writing the first magnetic poems.
After seeing his friends having fun, Dave thought he might be able to sell his word kits at a local craft fair. He made up 100 kits and set up shop at Calhoun Square, a mall in the Uptown area of Minneapolis. All 100 kits were gone after 3 hours. That night, he recruited as many friends as pizza and beer could draw and made up more kits--all of which sold as rapidly the next day.
From these beginnings, Magnetic Poetry® has now sold over three million word kits, over one billion word tiles--growing from the Original Kit to a kid's line of kits, to foreign language kits, to Voice/theme kits.
And since March 2008 Magnetic Poetry has been a part of Tuesdays and Thursdays - Making Ordinary Days (and refrigerators) Extraordinary
